Many more beeches can be found around the wood, but aside from the group on the Blue ride, they are mostly single trees and many appear to be quite old, suggesting that beeches were not felled during the period when the wood was being used for commercial forestry.
Here is another large beech on the boundary with the school camp.
Beeches have distinctive fruits and the beech mast lying at the base of beeches will assist identification if you are unsure.
