The current heatwave has brought out a mass of butterflies. As well as the regular explosion of Ringlets, Meadow Browns and Whites, there are also a large number of Purple Hairstreaks, often seen as a small grey butterfly flying higher in the trees than the majority of butterflies:

As always, the star attraction is the Purple Emperor; I saw a pair flying high at the usual location.
